MOT
An MOT is like a check for your car – it’s a legal requirement to make sure your vehicle is roadworthy and safe. Every year, we will check everything from your brakes to your lights and emissions, ensuring your car is ready and safe for both the environment and for your travels.

When Do I Need to Get an MOT?
Your car needs an MOT once every 12 months. This is to ensure that everything is safe and secure for you and your passengers.

What's the Difference Between an MOT and a Service?
No, an MOT is a legal requirement to ensure your car meets safety regulations and is deemed road-safe. A service is not a legal requirement but is highly recommended to check on the health of the car. These are often scheduled together to save both time and money.

How Much Does it Cost?
Our Class 4 MOTs are £40.
The Class 4 is the most common test as it covers vehicles that carry up to 8 passengers. As well as motor caravans and three-wheeled vehicles over 450kg.

What Happens if my Car Fails?
If your car fails its MOT you legally cannot drive on the road. Any faults must be fixed before having a retest carried out to ensure it is safe to drive. If brought to us within ten working days after your failed test, we will retest it free of charge.

Can I Get My Car Back Same Day?
All MOTs take around 1 hour to complete, so if your car passes then you will be able to drive it home the same day. It should be noted, however, that if your car fails you should not drive it until the faults have been fixed and a retest is completed.

How Do I Book My MOT?
You can book by simply giving us a call! With availability from 8:30am to 4pm every weekday, we can work around your schedule to suit you.

Service
A car service is like giving your vehicle a little TLC to keep it running smoothly. An interim service is perfect for cars that cover lots of miles between MOTs, focusing on key checks like oil and filters. A full service, on the other hand, goes deeper, covering everything from filters and fluids to brake pads and wheels. These services are essential to ensure your car stays in the best condition.
You can think of it as a spa day for your car, and trust us, it’ll thank you for it!

How Long Does a Car Service Take?
The length of time a service takes can completely depend on the service you get. These can range from 1 hour with an engine service, to a full day with a full service. It is best to speak with a member of our team to find out the best service for your car and your budget.

What Kind of Service Does My Car Need?
There are two types of services available here at Bankside, Interim and Major. With an interim service, our team does basic checks and replacements, whilst a major service is much more thorough and recommended on cars that drive a high mileage each year (e.g. taxis, commuters, travellers.)

How Much Does a Service Cost?
A service can start from £150 depending on the level of service required. We would recommend speaking to a member of our team to discuss the concerns for your car to better understand what your car needs. Something we will always promise is to only provide you with what you need, to avoid wasting both your time and money.
Repairs
Car repairs are all about fixing the little (or big!) things that keep your car from running its best. Whether it’s a noisy engine, faulty brakes, or a stubborn clutch, our team of expert technicians are on hand to get your car back on track.
From small fixes to major overhauls, we’ll handle it with care, and get you back on the road in no time!

Can Your Repair Panels or Do They Need to be Replaced?
When we can, we will always try to repair rather than replace. We do this to not only save you money but to save you time and avoid unnecessary waste for the environment. By choosing to repair rather than replace we can get your car back to you quicker, but we are always capable of replacing panels if that is preferred.

Are You an Insurance Approved Garage?
Yes! Our garage has worked with many insurance companies over the years and is approved to carry out work covered by insurance policies. We would always recommend communicating with your insurance provider before getting work done to confirm this.

Can I Use My Warranty With You?
Yes! Our garage has worked with many warranty companies over the years and is approved to carry out work covered by warranty policies. We would always recommend communicating with your warranty provider before getting work done to confirm this.

Can Your Replace Wet Belts?
Yes we do! We can replace a wet belt on any vehicle. Getting a wet belt replaced is extremely important as if it is not regularly checked and replaced, it can destroy your engine completely.
Bodywork/Paintwork
Got a dent, scratch, or scuff that’s cramping your car’s style? Our bodywork and paintwork services will have your vehicle looking as good as new! Whether it’s a minor touch-up or a full respray, we’ll give your car a fresh coat of paint to bring back that showroom shine. Your car deserves to look great – and we’re here to make it happen!

Do I Need To Get My Car Fully Resprayed if There is a Scratch?
No, usually our skilled technicians are able to only repaint that specific panel. This can be dependent on where the scratch is, the kind of scratch and the colour of your car.

Are You an Insurance Approved Bodyshop?
Yes! Our garage has worked with many insurance companies over the years and is approved to carry out work covered by insurance policies. We would always recommend communicating with your insurance provider before getting work done to confirm this.

How Long Does Paintwork and Bodywork Take?
It can range from a quick one-day turnaround to several days, depending on the size and complexity of the job. Whether it’s a minor touch-up or a full respray, we’ll make sure it’s done right. Give us a call, and our team can chat about your specific needs!
